NDY Boardroom lunches become the main course on the Brisbane business calendar

26 Jan 2012

The monthly boardroom lunches by leading engineering firm Norman Disney & Young (NDY) have become an important way for the NDY Brisbane executive team to engage with key clients and for the clients to interact with fellow industry colleagues. The table of ten discuss issues relevant in today’s business environment.

Associate Director Phillip Carruthers believes the informal format of these lunches offer guests an ideal opportunity to network with key industry leaders.  “It’s an opportunity for NDY and our guests to meet new players that we haven’t had the opportunity of working with in a relaxed and informative setting”.

Following on from the success of lunches with special guests such as the Federal Shadow Minister for Health & Ageing Peter Dutton and Federal Shadow Minister for Energy & Resources Ian McFarlane, NDY recently welcomed Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk to its new offices in Edward Street.

The City of Brisbane administers a significant portion of the Brisbane metropolitan area and has a larger population than any other Local Government Area (LGA) in Australia. The City of Brisbane was the first Australian LGA to reach a population of more than one million and the council administers a budget of over A$3 billion.

Elected on the 7th of April 2011 following the resignation of Campbell Newman, Graham Quirk plays a significant role in the development of the city, in particular the CBD.

NDY Brisbane Director Jeff Marchant said welcoming the Lord Mayor to a boardroom lunch provided an opportunity for the NDY name to be reinforced at the highest levels of local government.
“It was a pleasure hosting a luncheon attended by the Lord Mayor and his attendance also served as a key draw card and opportunity to further develop our relationships with some key senior clientele.”

The reputation of NDY’s boardroom lunches has seen the event become a ‘must’ on the Brisbane property business calendar. According to Marchant, the “NDY Brisbane boardroom lunches have evolved beyond the first class catering: they are an informative, and sometimes entertaining, session for an eclectic group of professionals to come together and participate in the exchange of ideas”.
